Survivor’s Guide to a totally RAD Throwback Thursday
August 27 is Throwback Thursday here at Isle Casino Hotel® Waterloo, where we invite you to come and enjoy a trip back to the 1980s. Whether you remember the '80s yourself or not, you’re sure to enjoy this trip down memory lane to a time when hair was big, and where style and fashion decided to take a vacation for a few years!
The main event is a completely free outdoor concert by the fabulous Spazmatics, who’ll be playing all those songs that made the eighties a decade to remember. From INXS to The Cure, Nina to Billy Idol, the Spazmatics have got the '80s covered.
Doors open at 7.30 p.m. and the show kicks-off at 8 p.m. As well as coming to enjoy the music, feel free to get right into the spirit of the occasion by dressing up in your very best '80s-themed clothing. We’re even providing a selfie station where guests can take photos that will then be posted onto our Facebook page, which also gives you the chance to win a great prize!
For all of you who are coming to have a great time at Throwback Thursday and to enjoy the Spazmatics, here’s our handy survivor’s guide to the event, which offers a few hints on how to make the most of this fabulous, not-to-be-missed event.
- Dress to Impress: If understated was your thing, the 1980s wasn’t for you. If ever a decade personified excess, it was the '80s. The lines between what men and women wore were blurred, to say the least, with Members Only jackets, parachute pants, shoulder pads, Converse® chucks and Wayfarers® being worn and enjoyed by all.
- Big Hair Essential: Ask people what stood out most about the 1980s and most will tell you it was the hair. It’s no wonder the ozone layer got a great big hole in it back then, as hairspray was an absolute essential for keeping those big hairstyles in place.
- Speak the Language: The way we talk changes over time, and the '80s had a language all its own. You might not want to admit to it, but back then terms such as gnarly, rad, dude, bogus, to the max, fresh and wiggin’ out were the way we spoke. Remember to use them throughout the night to give those that weren’t there a taste of what they missed out on.
- Comfort and Style: On a slightly more serious note, as this is an outdoor event in the evening, it’s a good idea to make sure you come prepared for the event. Bring your own lawn chairs and blankets if you'd like to make yourselves as comfortable as you can, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be brought into the 1980s theme as well.
So if you want to rock out to the best music of the 1980s at our free Spazmatics outdoor concert on Throwback Thursday (#TBT!), come and join us at Isle Casino Hotel Waterloo on August 27. If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to back-comb your hair again and to get those shoulder pads back on, this is the moment you’ve been waiting for!
